Anshei Greensboro: Dianne Hines

It's Anshei Greensboro time! Remember, Anshei translates to "people of the spirited mind" and our Anshei Greensboro is Dianne Hines! Dianne has been with the Federation for a very long time and will be retiring at the end of July, 2021.

Why Federation?
Federation was a job offered to me by the Employment Security Commission when I moved to Greensboro. They were having a difficult time filling my position. Although my education is in the medical field, I wanted to spread my wings and try something new, plus I needed the job.

What inspires you? What drives you?
I am inspired by the early teachings of my parents and grandparents to NEVER judge a book by it’s cover. What drives me is the love of my children. To always give them something to be proud of.

Tell us about a defining moment in your life.
A defining moment in my life is when I went from single to married to parent to single parent. I am responsible for the lives in my care, to raise, love, nurture and teach.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
My superpower would be to eliminate racism and social injustice. I feel although we come from different backgrounds, we are all human and should be treated the same regardless of race, color or creed.

What do you love about the Jewish community in Greensboro?
The Greensboro Jewish community is very welcoming. They have been here for me when I was at my lowest and celebrated with me when I was up. I was accepted by the community without questions and made to feel like family. What greater love is there when you have the love and respect of family.

In one sentence, who are you?
I am a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend who is a dedicated and committed individual who strives to do her best and be all she can be.

Dianne, you are one of a kind and will be missed by all!
