Day 1 - Monday, March 7, IFSM2016

The group arrived safely in Israel after our flights through JFK in New York. There is good spirit and camaraderie and bonds of friendship are already forming. We met our tour guide, Issy Hertzog, and also all of the wonderful people from JFNA and KenesTours who have been involved in the planning of this magnificent trip. Last evening we drove to our hotel situated right on the Mediterranean. We could hear the Sea and longed to see it in daylight!

We heard from a wonderful speaker, Johanna Landau, who started a nonprofit called Vibe Israel. It is a small company that looks at the creative energy of the state of Israel. Johanna spoke about how Israel is an informal country that is resourceful, has survivability, with an army, and is an incubator for pioneers. Israel is ethnically diverse and has a legacy of entrepreneurship, with lots of start ups and visionary people.

Some of us took a walk to the Tel Aviv port just about half an hour from our hotel and saw some disco, lovely shops and and restaurants.

On Tuesday morning we woke up to the beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. Some of us have already been out walking and jogging on the beach promenade which runs almost 20 miles (we only did a few!). Now onto the infamous Israeli breakfast and the start of a complete day (and night!)
