Healing through Art in Downtown Greensboro

Artist Victoria Milstein's Downtown Mural

“No mother should have to worry that their child is going to grow up and not be able to ride a bike or jog in a park if they’re black,” artist Victoria Milstein told the News & Record.

Victoria was joined by Mimi Johnson and her mother Olabisi, who painted images on the VCM Studios boarded up windows on June 5, following the protests in downtown Greensboro.

The mural conveyed messages of hope and understanding, including a quote by the late artist Jimi Hendrix, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

An important message on the mural that stands out is "Justice, Justice, you shall pursue", which Milstein finds to be a meaningful passage from the Torah.
