Six Points Sports Academy Celebrates 10 Years of Jewish Sports Camp

From 60 to 800: Union for Reform Judaism’s 6 Points Sports Academy Celebrates 10 Years of Jewish Sports Camp

Summer is in full swing, and for Jewish athletes who are passionate about sports, that means heading down the road to URJ 6 Points Sports Academy, located on the American Hebrew Academy campus.

This summer, 6 Points Sports Academy marks a special milestone as it celebrates its 10th anniversary! In 2010, 6 Points became part of the Foundation for Jewish Camps’ first specialty camp incubator program. Since then, it has become the most successful Jewish specialty camp and a leader in the Jewish camping field.

Their inaugural summer began with just 60 campers and has grown to be a summer home to over 800 Jewish athletes from across the United States and abroad. The unique camping experience combines top-level sports coaching and the beloved traditions of Reform Jewish camping. Within 6 Points’ kind and nurturing community, campers form lifelong friendships, feed their passion for their chosen sport, and strengthen their identity as Jewish athletes.

During each of the camp’s three, 2-week sessions, campers choose a sports major and receive training from professional coaches for four hours each day. Sports major options include baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, girls lacrosse, boys lacrosse, basketball, swimming, cheerleading & dance, and girls’ volleyball. Next summer, they will introduce golf, gymnastics, and sports journalism!
